After a short break, the penultimate round of the championship is guaranteed to produce some exciting racing and plenty of action. The race for the championship is still on at the front and theirs is plenty to play for right the way through the field. Synergy Motorsport Spectrum driver Shae Davies is excited about the opportunity to race on the streets of Surfers Paradise and will be looking to continue his strong run of form. The Main Beach resident continues to improve with each outing and will be one to watch next weekend. "I drive on the roads that make up the circuit almost every day, so hopefully that will give me an advantage," joked Davies. "I've been looking forward to this event all year, the round here last year was one of the best experiences I've ever had in a race car and I'm looking forward to doing it all again this year in front of my close friends and family. "I'm feeling very confident heading into next weekend, we had a good round there last year and I'm much more experienced this time round. We've been quick in recent rounds, with my strongest results of the year coming at Queensland Raceway and Phillip Island in the last two events and if I can keep out of trouble and off the wall then we'll be in for a good result. "Being a street circuit, the Gold Coast event requires a unique approach compared to most of the tracks we visit. You need to be aggressive, but remain within yourself because it's so easy to end up in the wall if you push too hard. We had a really good test last week at Winton, so I think we'll be in for a good weekend."
"I'm looking forward to getting back in the Formula Ford this weekend and hopefully I can have a strong round and wrap up the championship. It won't be easy because Nick [Foster] will be quick, but it would be nice to go to the final round with it already in the bag," Waters said."Having the opportunity to race at Bathurst was an amazing experience and I learnt a lot from it. The day didn't end quite how I would have liked, but hopefully I'll be back one day soon to have another crack. The Kelly's were great all weekend and helped me out whenever they could, it definitely made the weekend a lot easier being able to get advice from guys with so much experience." Five Queenslanders will compete in the round, with Andre Borell returning for another appearance this year. The Australian Triathlon champion has committed to a limited program this year and the Gold Coast will be just his second event. While not a local driver, current third place sitter Jack Le Brocq will be looking for a strong round on the streets of Surfers Paradise. The Victorian has been in the UK racing in the British championship in preparation for next season and will be one to watch. In total 19 drivers will make up the gird for the seventh round of the series with the cars taking to the track for the first time on Friday morning ahead of races on Saturday and Sunday.
