Holmes Stuns At Snetterton With A Double F4 Victory

Racing Driver Chris Holmes Finishes The Formula 4 Season On A High

Ilkley's Chris Holmes ended the 2009 Formula 4 Championship with a pair of wins at the final event of the season which was held at Snetterton on 20 September.

Chris finished the season with a crushing set of wins. Taking pole position for the first race, Chris took a comfortable win for the perfect start to the weekend. To add some spice to the second race of the day, the grid for race two saw the top 8  finsihes from race one take the grid in reverse order. So, starting from 8th on the grid, Chris had to fight his way past his competitors before drawing out a lead and taking the chequered flag again. In taking the win, Chris broke the Snetterton F4 lap record, a feat he has achieved at several British tracks this year.

This latest brace of wins sees Chris finish the year with an enviable record of 8 wins from the 11 rounds he has contested. Chris was a late comer to the season but, despite not racing in the opening events, his amazing record sees him finish the year as Vice-Champion.

"I am really happy with the way the weekend went" said Chris.  "It was pretty perfect I suppose! Throughout the year I have shown my speed and potential by taking 8 wins from 11 starts with plenty of lap records and pole positions, so it's been a solid year, and a lot of fun!

"I would like to thank all my sponsors - Hanline Associates, Nuffield Health and Fitness, Skins Products and Cushdy Creative, for all their support throughout 2009"

"I am currently looking at some interesting options for a 2010 drive, and the pace I have shown certainly helps. I am waiting on a couple of decisions in the next month or so, and if they go my way, it will lead to a very exciting 2010 season!"

Holmes Hits Formula Four For Six

Racing Driver Chris Holmes Dominates Formula Four At Oulton Park With Another Clean Sweep

Ilkley's Chris Holmes smashed the Oulton Park Formula Four lap record on his way to a dominant pair of wins in the latest round of the 2009 F4 Championship.

The 22 year old racing driver took a convincing pole position for the first race of the double header event, and used it to good advantage. Chris made a flying start from which he never looked back, eking out a formidable lead. On his way to the race one win Chris set the fastest lap, breaking the Formula Four lap record for the Cheshire circuit.

To spice up the second race of the day, the top eight finishers from race one were reversed on the grid. Starting from 8th, Chris was aware his main Championship rivals would start ahead of him. Another lightening start saw Chris immediately make up places before setting about scything through the field. Though the leader had pulled out a small gap, Chris was quickly able to reel him in and pass him for the lead. Once again the young Yorkshireman wasted no time in building up an enviable gap. With fastest lap gaining an extra point, Chris was keen to set the pace again. Remarkably Chris not only set the fastest lap, he broke the lap record he'd set just hours previously by another half a second! Chris lapped an average of 2 seconds a lap faster than his rivals!

Chris's latest pair of wins takes his tally to 6 wins from 9 starts for the season.

"The car ran fantastically" Chris said afterwards. "Oulton Park is a great circuit to race on and when the car works this well it is a dream to drive. A clean sweep here puts me in a great position for the Championship finale at Snetterton on 20 September.

"I am already looking ahead to 2010 and hope to secure sufficient sponsorship to be able to take advantage of a competitive drive".

Chris Holmes Races To Another Formula 4 Victory

Chris Holmes Takes The Chequered Flag at Brands Hatch.

Chris Holmes, from Ilkley in Yorkshire, was on the top step of the podium once more at the latest round of the Formula 4 Championship held at Brands Hatch last weekend. Setting another lap record on his way to his second victory of the year, Chris overcame a mechanical problem to put in the drive of the day.
Having qualified on pole, he looked set to continue his dominant winning ways when mechanical gremlins struck with a clutch problem which dropped him down the field in the first race. With the race red flagged, which gave the clutch time to cool, the race restarted with Chris in 15th yet he battled up to 2nd before an electrical intervened forcing him into retirementt.
From the outside it looked as if his weekend was over,as even with intense and quick work by his team on the car, he would still have to start the second race from 18th on the grid. On the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, which is tight, overtaking isn’t easy so making up places would be a lot to ask. Even then of a podium seem out of the question.

However, in a display that can be described as nothing less than stunning, Chris went for broke, and knowing he had to pass a car every lap in the minimum of time , that is exactly what he did!

With amazing pace and some seriously brave moves, Chris literally stormed through the field to take the win and set a new lap record on the way!
"The weekend started great with pole position but then to have that bad luck in race one was a nightmare" said Chris afterwards. "I went into race two fully focused on what I had to achieve from 18th place and thankfully everything I did worked. To win race two was fantastic and the lap record makes it two out of two for the circuits I've raced on this year."
