Looking ahead to his maiden F3 run, Will commented: “We hadn’t really considered Spanish F3 until we received Emilio’s offer but it now makes perfect sense and I’m really looking forward to the Valencia test. “I’m confident racing in the Spanish Formula 3 Championship will be good for my career, particularly when you consider the championship uses four of the Formula One/GP2 circuits and it will also support the European Grand Prix this year on the brand new Valencia street circuit. “Several of the top drivers in F1 and GP2 graduated from Spanish F3 so that bodes well. Of course, everything hinges on the test really but it should be good and I can’t wait to have my first experience of an F3 car.” Alongside the benefits a season in Spanish F3 would bring in the motor racing sense, including the chance to race as support to the 2008 European Grand Prix on the Valencia street circuit, the championship calendar also fits in well with Will’s final year of study at Oxford University. The FIAT Spanish Formula 3 Championship has become one of the foremost F3 categories in the world in recent seasons with Javier Villa, Andy Soucek, Borja Garcia, Roldan Rodriguez and Sergio Jimenez all graduating to the highly prestigious, Formula One-supporting, GP2 series.
