Guillaume Moreau joins Luc Alphand Aventures forces

Like this year Guillaume Moreau’s 2008 season will be structured around a double programme in the World Series by Renault and Endurance. Guillaume has already decided the second part; he will join Luc Alphand Adventures’ team to drive a Corvette C6.R in both the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Le Mans Series.

Guillaume had his first taste of endurance racing this year; he is really keen on renewing the experience and his ambitions have gone up a notch. “I really liked the 2007 season even if I found it a bit frustrating in endurance because I didn’t race in all the events. Changing from the 3.5-litre Renault to the Courage LMP1 didn’t pose any problems - quite the contrary in fact! When we saw that the World Series by Renault and the Le Mans Series calendars were compatible, we explored the opportunities they offered to help my career progress. Thanks to the backing of my partner Manitou, which uses the Le Mans 24 Hours as one of its major promotional tools, we reached agreement with Luc Alphand Adventures. The programme on offer fulfils my expectations in every respect.”

In just a few years the Sarthe-based team set up by the former world champion skier has achieved an enviable reputation. Luc Alphand Adventures is backed by General Motors through its works team Pratt & Miller, and in 2008 the French team will run a pair of C6.R Corvettes with all the latest tweaks. They will give Aston Martin and Saleen, the other two manufacturers entered in GT1, a good run for their money.

For Guillaume, who has done all his racing so far in single-seaters, it will be a big change as for the first time he will have a roof over his helmet! “Well, it’s a real first for me, but I know I’ll get used to it very quickly. The GT1s are very quick motorcars, which finish in the first ten in the Le Mans 24 Hours on a regular basis. I’ll make the most of the experience I’ve accumulated in 2007. I’m really delighted with this programme, as I know I’m going to race in the very best conditions. My car, my co-drivers, the management and the technical staff are all top level.”

Guillaume will cross the Atlantic to have his first taste of the Corvette C6.R. On 21 and 22nd January he will be at Sebring in Florida where the team and the drivers will get their hands on the 2008 cars. “We’re going to do our first test at the same time as the works team. We’ll be able to benefit from their advice and establish a baseline for comparison.”

Between now and then Guillaume will have finalised his World Series by Renault programme. “It’s another very exciting challenge with the arrival of the new car. Our objective is clear: the title. We’ll conclude our discussions with the team we’ve selected in the next few days.”
