The weekend will celebrate the fabulous Donington Collection, the world's largest collection of Grand Prix racing cars covering over 130 exhibits and taking in cars raced by many of the sport's greatest names; Senna, Fangio, Mansell, Moss and Stewart. On the track will be a wonderful array of classic racing cars, sports cars and single-seaters from the 1950s through to the 1980s and with adult admission just £12 per day and children admitted free, either Saturday or Sunday will make a great value day out for all the family. Headlining the 15-race weekend, organised by the Historic Sports Car Club, will be the stunning spectacle of Group C sports cars from the 1980s, back racing at Donington just as they did two decades ago in the World Sportscar Championship. These are the Le Mans cars of the 1980s, with cars from Porsche, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Nissan, Spice and they will be in action in a 90-minute race on Saturday and a 30-minute race on Sunday. These cars are capable of speeds of over 200mph and will be racing down the famous Craner Curves at up to 180mph, so it will be an unforgettable spectacle. Entries for the Group C races, the last event in the 2008 calendar for these cars, will come from all over Europe and the weekend will have a major international flavour with other races for the Lurani Trophy for Formula Junior and the French-based GT and Sports Car Cup. In the year that Formula Junior celebrates its Golden Jubilee season, the field of these single-seater racing cars of the late 1950s and early 1960s will include drivers from Italy, Germany, Holland and Switzerland as well as Britain. Alongside the international events will be a full programme of racing for categories from the Historic Sports Car Club, with races for Historic Formula Ford 1600, Historic Racing Saloons, Classic Racing Cars and much more! Not only will full grids produce some great racing, the paddock will be packed with a glorious array of racing machinery and visitors to Donington will have ample chance to get up close to the cars and drivers in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
