Heritage GT action switches to Snetterton

A capacity grid
of racing GT and saloon cars from the 1960s and 1970s will do battle
over a pair of races, with two drivers in many of the cars and
compulsory pit stops adding to the excitement.
The 2007 season is proving to be the best yet for the Heritage GT series
and next two races are an important part of a superb schedule of races,
which includes a return to Snetterton at the end of July for two races
on the BTCC support programme.
The thundering field will be one of the star support features during the
high profile British F3/GT meeting, with 35-minute races on Saturday
afternoon and again on Sunday morning.
These cars are from an era when power invariably exceeded grip, and with
many cars running 4-litre, 5-litre and even 6-litre engines, cars
sliding around is the norm in Heritage races. Add in the spectacle of
some of the rapid smaller cars trying to do some giant killing and you
have all the ingredients for two real crowd-pleasers.
Sure to be among the pacesetters is the Chevrolet Camaro of Peter Hall
and multiple BTCC champion Andy Rouse. But more Camaros in the very
capable hands of Arthur Thurtle/Roger Bennington and Alec Hammond/Andy
Jenkinson will be chasing hard and a gaggle of very potent Morgans will
surely make a big impact.
Father and son team Grahame and Oliver Bryant will be challenging for
victory in their Morgan +8, with Oliver fitting the races in around his
British GT schedule this weekend, while the Morgans of Rick Lloyd, Chris
Williams and Phil Hollins will also fly.
Notable among the Aston Martin pack will be the thundering V8s of Bob
Searles and George Miller/Les Goble, while the older DB5 of Ian
McCallum/John Bussell will be right up there as well. So too, will the
MGB GTV8 of father and son team Roy and Russell McCarthy.
In the other classes, for the glorious Jaguar E Type of Peter Lloyd/Rob
Schirle will battle with the famous Lotus 47 of Pat Thomas, while a
gaggle of very quick Minis will take on Gordon Streeter's Ford Anglia
and Kerry Michael's Ford Escort in the class for classic saloon cars.
