Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge

Brands final for Heritage GT racers

The race promises a fierce battle in the two races on Sunday and two Sunbeam Tigers could be at the heart of the action as Jackie Cochrane and Stephen Colbert go head to head with Chris Beighton and Jon Finnemore.

But it is not just the Tigers that will be hunting race wins. Lining up alongside will be the Chevrolet Camaro of father and son team Arthur and Boysie Thurtle, as well as very quick Aston Martins for Chris Scragg and Bob Searles/Tony Jardine, while an intriguing new entry is a 5-litre TVR for Peter Wheeler and Ben Samuelson. Normally seen racing an Aston Martin, former TVR boss Wheeler is set to debut his latest car and it’s bound to attract a lot of interest.

In class C, for the less modified 8 and fully modified 6-cylinder cars, the Porsche 911RS of Andrew Chalmers/Colin Davids is a leading contender along with Andrew Knight (Ford Mustang). Tremendous variety comes from the MGB GTV8 of Will and Michael Goff, the Sunbeam Tiger of Neil Merry and Christian Dick and a gaggle of Aston Martins

.At least four classic Aston Martin will contest class E and there could be little to split the cars of Steven Byrne/Peter Snowdon, Ian McCallum/John Bussell, Conor O'Brien/Charlie Kemp and Nicholas King/Tony Worthington.

Class B includes the splendid Daimler SP250 of Piers Townsend and Chris Conoley, while in class A the Ford Cortina of Kate Bennington takes on the BMW 2002 of Bob Godbold/Anthony Matthews and the rapid Mini Cooper S of Harvey and Clive Death. However, the welcome return of local ace Gordon Streeter from Penshurst in what is widely regarded to be the fastest Ford Anglia in the world will up the ante considerably.
