START YOUR 2009 IN STYLE WITH MASTERS AT THE GOODWOOD TRACK DAYS

 

 27/28TH FEBRUARY

A Masters tradition is to start the season with two Track Days at Goodwood, and for 2009 that’s what they are doing.  The Track Days will still happen on the Friday and Saturday 27-28 Februaryplus they will also be showcasing Masters and its suppliers and drivers can get their medical done and your HTP inspection. 

The legendary circuit of Goodwood will play host to pre-66 race-cars, silenced to 105dba, on  Friday 27th February, or Saturday 28th February in either of the two Masters track days.  Entry forms are available soon  Ladies - note that the Masters plan special Ladies Only sessions if there is enough interest! 

WHICH CARS?

All cars that “might just possibly be eligible” for the 2009 versions of the Revival races known as the TT Celebration, the Lavant Cup, the Fordwater Trophy, St Mary’s Trophy – or even, if you can silence your car properly – the Whitsun Trophy and the Sussex Trophy. In Masters and Top Hat terms, that’s cars from the Master’s grids are known as Gentleman Drivers, Cloth Cap, Top Hat Pre-66 Saloons, even SRM – and Oldies but Goldies, welcome as always.  

WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON THAT WEEKEND?

Masters Goodwood 2009 will be much more than just 2 silenced track days!  Instead of attending the early shows & exhibitions this year, Masters are going to bring the whole show to Goodwood, and make this weekend their own.

Trade Suppliers will be out in force, so that you can stock up with all you need for the season – tyres, fuels, oils, race wear, race car parts, clothing. 

The Masters Hospitality Unit will be there, serving warming soups and coffees, providing somewhere to sit and meet up with old friends  

Race Preparers and Restorers will have paddock displays of their latest projects and be there in person to answer questions about everything from transport in the summer to restoration!

Classic and historic car dealers will be on display, led by the Master’s partners from Speedmaster and Coys, so you can browse through further new car options for your 2009 season

Get your car inspected for its new FIA papers! Senior UK MSA-approved HTP inspectors will be present on both days – book up in advance to have your car inspected

Plus - Get your yearly medical done for your MSA licence with Dr Mark Green. who will be at Goodwood to undertake the arduous task of assessing your health – the MSA drivers’ medical. Book in advance to ensure you get a slot.    

Additional Attractions

The Masters Sussex Concours – for all pre-1980 road cars

Drive your road-going Classic down to Sussex, park opposite the pits by the Vitra Café and you will be judged for a special Masters Concours d’Elegance Award in 4 classes:-

* Class A – Bailey Bowl for Touring & GT cars of the '60s ;

* Class B – Tippet Trophy for Touring & GT cars of the '70s;  

* Class C – Christopher Cup for all cars built before 1959;

* Class D – Julius’ Jug for the most unusual car in the Concours show line-up

 

The famed Goodwood Naafi Burgers will be on sale in the paddock, and with all the local hostelries doing a roaring trade as well! Look out for details of a special dinner party on the Friday evening, if there is sufficient interest from Members.

All in all, The Masters Goodwood ‘February Festival’ will offer something for everyone, from the experienced racer, to complete novices .
