British GT front runner Bradley Ellis  will make his FIA GT debut at Monza, Italy, this weekend for rounds five and six of the championship on 23 & 24 June 2007. The recently turned 20-year-old will be racing with Team RPM but, rather than sharing the car with his usual team mate Alex Mortimer, the pair will be racing head to head for the first time. Currently lying fifth in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, Ellis will chariot the Team RPM Dodge Viper Competition Coupe alongside experienced FIA GT racer Ed Morris. Although it will be his first guest FIA GT race, Ellis will benefit from his 2004 Formula Renault Italia and Monza race experience. Ellis commented: “I’m really looking forward to my first FIA GT race with Ed, we should make a good pairing and I hope we do well. There’s a few differences compared to racing in the British GTs, particularly to running on a completely different compound with Michelin tyres, but I’m confident I’ll get to grips with the car in practice.”

EURO STARS AT BRANDS FOR FORD'S 40TH. Dutch driver Henk Vuik Jr and Norwegian kart champion Anders Krohn will be joining the British Formula Ford Championship regulars on the Brands Hatch grid next month. Vuik and Krohn - both of whom are frontrunners in the Dutch and Benelux Formula Ford series - will be racing Duratec-powered Mygales prepared by top Netherlands team Vuik Racing. Their arrival in the Ford-backed British series brings to eight the number of nationalities represented. "With drivers from Japan, South Africa, France, Finland, Ireland and now Holland and Norway joining the Brits on the grid, the British Formula Ford Championship is becoming an increasingly important international arena," said Sam Roach of championship promoter RacingLine. "Even more exciting is that there are yet more nationalities due to join us later in the year." The growing strength of the championship's international appeal is all the more appropriate given that the 14/15 July Brands Hatch rounds of the championship mark 40 years of Formula Ford - the first-ever race was held at the Kent circuit on 2 July 1967. Vuik is no stranger to Brands - he contested the Formula Ford Festival there last October in a Zetec-engined car. Henk has been a top-10 finisher in the Dutch Formula Ford Championship every year since 2003 and currently holds sixth overall in both the Dutch and Benelux series. His 19-year-old team-mate Krohn is second overall in the Benelux championship following a race win at Zandvoort and podium finishes at Spa-Francorchamps. Anders last season won his third Norwegian kart championship title in four years. Leading the British Formula Ford Championship runners to Brands will be 19-year-old Jamun Racing Mygale driver Callum MacLeod, who has six wins under his belt from eight starts.

Rounds 5-8 of the 22-race 2007 Formula BMW Asia season will be held as part of the SuperGT weekend from June 22-24 on the full 5.542km circuit.  Despite the Malaysian’s 33 point lead, with arguably the most competitive field the series has seen since its inception in 2003, there are plenty of drivers ready and able to knock Jazeman off his lofty perch.  Indian Rookie and BMW Junior Akhil Khushlani (Eurasia Motorsport) is another driver who has made a stunning Formula BMW Asia debut, proving consistency is everything. His four 5th place finishes have put him 2nd in the Driver classification and top of the Rookie Cup leaderboard. Thornton started the race, working his way up to third during his stint and staying out of the pits longer than the other teams. The late pit stop to hand over to Segal was just enough to get the No. 09 BMW to the finish line without an additional stop for fuel. "It was a bit of a surprise. We weren't the fastest car on track because we had some setup issues, but my late pit allowed Jeff to stay up front," said Thornton.

Caltex Ambassador Craig Lowndes became the first non-SBR Ford driver to win a round for the manufacturer when he took out the corresponding round last year.  Lowndes comes into the weekend with confidence following his second place in the final race of the previous round at Eastern Creek two weeks ago. He and team-mate Jamie Whincup have taken the challenge to the championship leaders over the past two rounds and as a consequence have moved into sixth and third respectively in the standings. Whincup, who is the only Ford  driver to have won in 2007, has contested three rounds at the Hidden Valley circuit. His best performance coming last year when he finished 12th overall aboard the #88 Caltex-backed Falcon. James Courtney made his Darwin debut last year finishing just outside the Top Ten. "I think this is the most difficult win we have had here so far," said Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, Audi Sport Competition Manager, "There was a lot of competition from Peugeot, and also Pescarolo who did a great job the whole race and over the weekend, and there was pressure on us from the beginning right to the end so we couldnt lose a second without thinking what that meant for us."

Cram Competition's Jerome D'Ambrosio completed a masterful weekend in Brno with a second win in yesterday's International Formula Master (IFM) race. Proving once again that overtaking is infinitely possible in this class of single-seater racing, the 21-year-old pushed his Formula S2000 all the way to the top from eighth place on the grid. Italy's Giuseppe Terranova finished second despite overtaking his Alan Racing teammate Salvatore Gatto at the start for the lead. The Italian lost his first place to D'Ambrosio after the Belgian got a better re-start following a safety car period. Third place went to J.D Motorsport's Chris van der Drift for the second time this weekend. The Dutchman enjoyed an on-track battle with D'Ambrosio for most of the race, providing superb entertainment for the Czech Republic fans at the track, before settling for third.

Daniel Morad would run a smart race on Saturday and use tactics to move from his P3 starting position and take the  flag for in Round 5 of the  FBMW Championship . The lead would swap a number of times over the course of the race with Morad always in the hunt. In the clsoing laps Morad had enough of a gap over third place to set his sights on the leader. He would make his move with two to go and stretch out a lead to come across the line with a 0.740 secs up.

Bobby Wilson passed for the lead in Turn 1 of the opening lap of Race 2 of the Liberty Challenge in the Indy Pro Series  on the road course at Indianapolis, and he then cruised to a 10.5-second victory over series points leader Alex Lloyd.  Wilson started on the outside of Row 1 in the No. 1 Ocala Gran Prix entry after a seventh-place finish in Race 1 on June 16. The top eight finishers were inverted for the start of Race 2. Wilson made a move on polesitter Ryan Justice in the first corner and drove all 18 laps unchallenged on the 13-turn, 2.605-mile circuit. The victory was Wilson's second in the Indy Pro Series and the first while driving for Brian Stewart Racing. "It's been an up-and-down year," Wilson said. "I'm so happy to be here (in victory lane). It's been long time coming. I'm proud to win here, and it's going to be a day of celebration. I'm going to enjoy it." Lloyd, who maintains a 104-point advantage in the point standings, finished second for the second consecutive race after coming into the weekend with a record five-race win streak. Lloyd started seventh in the race, moved up several positions on the start, and passed Justice for second on Lap 14. Hideki Mutoh, who earned his first Indy Pro Series victory in Race 1, improved from the eighth starting position to finish third. He passed Justice on the final straightaway, beating him to the line by .003 of a second. Justice earned a career-best finish in fourth while Jaime Camara was fifth. Logan Gomez, a Sam Schmidt Motorsports teammate of Lloyd and Justice and a native of Crown Point, Ind., recorded a career-best finish of sixth.

Hideki Mutoh continued his domination of the road course at Indy with a win in Race 1 of the Liberty Challenge in the Indy Pro Series. After leading practice and winning the SWE Pole Award on June 15, Mutoh led all 18 laps to claim his first Indy Pro Series victory. The win was the first for Panther Racing since 2003 when the team won the championship with Mark Taylor. "It was pretty hot, but the car was so good," Mutoh said. "I could have a big gap in the beginning of the race, so I just tried to save my tires if I had a yellow, caution and stuff like that. So I tried to drive the car safe. But the reason I won was because the car was so good."  The victory on the 13-turn, 2.605-mile circuit ended the record five-race winning streak of Alex Lloyd.  Lloyd, who started second in the No. 7 Lucas Oil/Isilon Systems/SSM car, finished second, 6.273 seconds behind. While the two leaders pulled away from the field, there was an intense battle for positions three through seven.  In the end, Andretti Green Racing's Jaime Camara finished third, his second podium finish of the season, 2005 series champion Wade Cunningham was fourth, and rookie Stephen Simpson was fifth. Richard Antinucci and Bobby Wilson, who battled each other for third for several laps, finished sixth and seventh, respectively.

As the Formula BMW UK Championship 2007 heads to Oulton Park next weekend, rookie Oliver Webb (Carlin Motorsport) will be looking for local support to help him onto the podium for the first time this season. The 16-year-old racer from Knutsford has competed here once before in the T Cars Championship and loves the character of his local track. After finishing third overall in the 2006 T Cars Championship, the teenager is now relishing the challenge of the single-seater Formula BMW racing series.  Webb currently lies fourth in the Rookie category and tenth in the overall Championship standings. With only 21 points between him and third placed Rookie, Adrian Quaife-Hobbs the 92 points on offer at each race meeting means there is still plenty to race for. Currently placed just 10 points behind team-mate Ericsson, he is certainly still in the hunt with 10 races remaining.

After a fantastic podium finish in race one, Ryan was pleased to bag more points in race two and leaves Portland in high spirits.“I think we had a great car today," said Ryan. "We made a call on the start to change a roll bar setting which really helped when it was a bit greasy in the beginning, but in the end hindered us a little bit in some of the corners with a bit too much understeer. As the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) continues, BMW head for the next round of the championship at Brno in the Czech Republic. Set impressively into the open countryside of Southern Moravia, the "Automotodrom Brno" follows the lie of the land and stands in stark contrast to the narrow city circuit of Pau (FRA), the venue for the previous two rounds of the WTCC. The BMW drivers are looking forward to the circuit, which promises plenty of opportunities for overtaking.  Covering a distance of 5.403 kilometres, the track includes numerous climbs which will compound the effects of any additional weight in the car far more strongly than a flatter circuit would. This means that Brno will present a particular challenge both for World Championship leader Andy Priaulx (GBR) of BMW Team UK and for Augusto Farfus (BRA) of BMW Team Germany. Following their successful performances in France both drivers will be first to carry the maximum ballast load of 60 kilos. Farfus' team-mate Jorg Muller (GER), who won one of last year's two races in Brno, will be taking an extra 45 kilograms on board his BMW 320si WTCC.  With Felix Porteiro (ESP) having scored four championship points in Pau, BMW Team Italy-Spain is hoping for another good result in Brno. His team-mate Alessandro Zanardi (ITA) already gave a clear indication of his ability to handle the circuit when finishing second in the first round at the "Automotodrom Brno" in 2006.

Team G.FRO's Star Mazda Championship effort grew to three cars beginning in the series' fifth round at Portland International Raceway with the recent signing of race-winner Lorenzo Mandarino, 20, for the remainder of the season. Adding Mandarino to the already talented duo of Ron White, 25, and Tyson Sy, 19, Team G.FRO's three-car squad proved to be a potent combination this past weekend as the team scored two top-sixes with White and Sy in a grueling rain-soaked event at Portland. read more

Devin Cunningham raced his #33 Discovery Channel/AIM Autosport Mazda from 10th on the grid to victory at Portland International Raceway in Round Five of the 2007 Star Mazda Championship Presented by Goodyear.

Adam Carroll finished the latest round of DTM in 16th position, the same place where he started on the grid despite running in the top 6 for the majority of the race. At the start, the 24 year old from Northern Ireland, made two places but it was to be short lived, as cars around him crashed out. Despite avoiding the tangle, Adam went into the gravel and lost a couple of places. Throughout the race he worked his way up to as high as 4th before his 2 mandatory pit-stops. But a drive through penalty for 3 miles per hour over the pit-lane speed limit put paid to his best result of the season so far. "I made a good start and moved through the field but Paul Di Resta and Mike Rockenfeller went off and I ended up in the gravel too. I pushed as hard as I could throughout the race but my tyres didn't last long and I was struggling to stay on track. I kept pushing very hard and managed to keep the Mercedes at bay. My pit stops went well but it was a real shame I got the drive through penalty

Jeff Gordon wins rain-shortened Nascar race in Pocono. The race started nearly two and a half hours late  before rain started to threaten once more at the halfway point in the race.. That gave Gordon the chance to gamble on a pit strategy and put in in position to win when the red flag came out after 107 laps due to rain.  “We had a great race car, we just needed track position," said Gordon, who led 26 laps, but gave credit for the win to his crew chief. "Steve Letarte - he won this race today. We had a great race car, but without track position and without a great, risky call like that...I can't believe we won this race."  It was Gordon's fourth win in the past seven races and his fourth career Pocono win to move into a four-way tie for second on the all-time winners list with Tim Richmond, Rusty Wallace and Darrell Waltrip. Bill Elliott, who finished 37th on Sunday, leads the way with five career wins. Despite being the second shortest race so far this season, it will be a memorable one for Gordon.  "We've had some drama this year in our wins," said Gordon, who padded his championship points lead to 242. "When we do it, it's in dramatic fashion. I'm just so proud of all of my guys. What a great way to finish this day out. I didn't think we were even going to get out on the race track today. I still don't believe it." Ryan Newman finished second

The Mazda Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland Presented by Joe's Sports and Outdoor was won by  Sebastien Bourdais and his  ewman/Haas/Lanigan Racing team, their 100th Champ Car victory. For the first time in Champ Car history, the race started from a standstill rather than the traditional rolling start. Every driver was able to get going cleanly which set the tone for the caution free day that saw Sebastien Bourdais (#1 McDonald's Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone)  cruise to his third straight win. Justin Wilson was second after leading early on. "It's good to be on the podium again," said Justin. "The #9 CDW/RSPORTS team did a great job all weekend and I'm really proud of them. The start went well. I got a little too much wheelspin, but with the inside line I just braked at the same time as Robert which made it pretty simple. For the first stint things were working really well. I was just cruising really and very comfortable with the car. In the second stint I was expecting to pick up the pace, but it never happened which was surprising. We'll have to look at the data to see if we can figure out what happened, but ultimately we weren't quick enough for Sebastien today."

Signature team driver Edoardo Mortara has claimed his debut win in the Formula 3 Euroseries at Brands Hatch. The French-Italian started race two from pole position, having finished eighth in race one, and conserved his advantage to the finish despite constant pressure from championship leader Sebastien Buemi. The result means that Edoardo, in only his second year of racing cars, extends his lead of the rookies championship. The 20 year-olds first win in his fourth Formula 3 race has also boosted his overall championship prospects. Sébastien Buemi (Mücke Motorsport) was second ahead of Kamui Kobayashi (ASM Formule 3) in third.

Romain Grosjean (ASM Formule 3) took the spoils in the third season round of the Formula 3 Euro Series. At the 1.929 kilometres long Indy circuit at Brands Hatch, the Frenchman was 1.139 seconds faster than British driver, James Jakes (Manor Motorsport). Kamui Kobayashi (ASM Formule 3) scored his first points of the season for finishing third. Grosjean had the best start and pulled over towards the middle of the track. Franck Mailleux (Manor Motorsport), who started from second place, also drove towards the middle and thus the two collided. While rookie Mailleux was out, Grosjean took the lead as pole-sitter Jakes had problems getting away. Grosjean didn’t lose the lead until the chequered flag was out, celebrating his second victory of the season. As points leader Sébastien Buemi (Mücke Motorsport) only finished seventh, race winner Grosjean also took over first place in the points’ standings of the world’s toughest junior racing series. Behind James Jakes, Kamui Kobayashi and Nico Hülkenberg (ASM Formule 3), Tim Sandtler (Jo Zeller Racing) surprised by finishing fifth. Romain Grosjean (Manor Motorsport): “I had a good start. Just before the first corner, Franck Mailleux and I tangled, but fortunately, that didn’t cause any damage to my car. At the first corner, I was in front. When you are leading in the first corner here, you normally win the race when you don’t make any mistakes.”
