2010 Porsche Carrera Cup GB unveiled

Building on the success of the 2009 season, the Carrera Cup GB will offer teams and drivers high-profile GT racing with stable technical regulations and perfect equality across all the cars on the grid. The existing 2008 and 2009 model 911GT3 Cup cars will remain at the forefront of the championship, with absolutely no changes to the technical regulations.
Similarly, the championship's sporting regulations will remain unchanged. The pro category will be for the professional and most experienced drivers, while pro-am1 will offer great competition for the less experienced drivers. Pro-am2 will again cater for drivers in pre '08 997-model 911GT3 Cup cars. Competitors in pro-am1 and pro-am2 will compete for dedicated points, prize money and podiums.
The series will also stay on as part of the HiQ MSA BTCC support package ensuring  both live TV and highlights programmes as well as big crowds.
For 2010, a total prize fund of £166,000 will be available, with significant amounts for the pro, pro-am1 and pro-am2 categories as well as the teams' championship. The overall champion could take away a total of £25,000 in prize money, including the £15,000 award at season's end, as well as a road-going Porsche 911 to use for a year.
"It is very important to give our teams and drivers a clear indication of stability in the regulations for 2010," said championship manager Marion Barnaby. "By making an early announcement about 2010 we are also giving as much support as possible to the teams and drivers that are considering joining the Carrera Cup. The prospects for next year already look very good indeed."
In 2010 there will once again be 20 races at 10 events and to start the ball rolling, a sampler session will be held at Silverstone in October when teams will be able to offer test runs to prospective competitors.
