PUSH TO FREEDOM.

The people of Crawley are supporting our injured soldiers, sailors and airmen in more ways than ever.Three companies in particular have been involved in the launch of a newly formed charity - PUSH TO FREEDOM.
P&H Motorcycles, Blue Lizard Signs and Kinsella Fitch are all heavily involved with the charity, with P&H Motorcycles giving the charity its maiden donation of £500 and the promise of equipment support for the ride next year.  Blue Lizard signs have provided complimentary banners and stickers to promote the charity and Kinsella Fitch are working with the team to produce promotional merchandise in order to boost the funds raised.

Push to Freedom was Launched on 6th June 2008 at the D-Day Museum in Portsmouth.  The team are planning to hand-cycle over 150 miles along the Normandy coast next year.  The route will follow the invasion route taken by the military in 1944 and will be stopping along the way to pay tribute to those servicemen and women who were injured and lost their lives over the past 65 years. Amongst the team are Lee, Art, both paraplegic and WO Al Sylvester, all ex-patients of the military rehabilitation unit in Surrey.

The purpose of the charity is to provide injured  military personnel and families with assistance in their immediate social and recreational needs.  Tony Phillips, expedition leader stated, ' there are a number of charities who aim to help the troops but there is often a delay, with some personnel waiting months for funding towards simple things such as wheelchairs and bathing chairs.  What we propose is to set up a benevolent fund where the troops can get pretty much instant access to funds so that they can purchase what they need to help them get on and lead as normal a life as possible.  We are for the here and now rather than a year later!'

Push To Freedom aims to raise £1,000,000 each year, donating a percentage of the funds between nominated military charities that already exist.  The remaining money raised will be deposited into the Push To Freedom benevolent fund where injured personnel can directly benefit from the donations.
