Some seven weeks on from his last competitive outing due to the cancellation of the scheduled Donington Park race meeting at the beginning of the month, 21-year-old Will is relishing his return to action at Zolder with the event marking his first ever visit to the 2.5-mile track. Heading into the third race meeting of the campaign, the EmiliodeVillota.com Motorsport driver is fourth in the championship standings just nine points shy of the top of the table. Having secured a debut podium finish during the second round of the year at Portimao, Portugal, Will added a second rostrum at Magny-Cours in France but is now hungry for his maiden Euroseries 3000 race victory. “I'm really happy to finally be back in the car”, said the Banbury-based British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star, “I’ve never driven at Zolder before so it’ll be a brand new experience for me. Even though we only have two half-hour practice sessions, I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t be able to get to grips with the track pretty quickly. “It would be best if we have a nice dry weekend as those would obviously be the best conditions in which to learn the track. Whatever happens though, I’m sure we’ll be able to do a good job. In terms of the championship I’m looking to secure my first win and if we have an incident free weekend with no mechanical issues, I’m sure we’ll be in a strong position to challenge right at the front.” During the most recent event at Magny-Cours, Will luckily escaped unscathed from the biggest accident of his career when a steering failure pitched him off the circuit at around 150mph during the second race of the weekend. Marking his first non-finish of the season, the Euroseries 3000 title challenger is determined to bounce back strongly and take a brace of big points scores at Zolder.
